Banned user name hack available anywhere?

Is there a hack that allows admins to ban user names (specific words or phrases), similar to the built-in one for newbb forum posts?

Go into your XOOPS admin area and goto Preferences Main »» User Info Settings and you should be able to specify a list of banned usernames at the bottom.

Is it necessary to use the arrow when separating words?

It uses regex for pattern matching, so you'll need to perhaps spend 10~15 minutes familiarising yourself with regex. But no, you don't need the arrow. have a look at this site;

The caret (^) anchors the pattern to the beginning of the search string. So "^xoops" would match "xoops1" and "xoops2" but not "1xoops", while "xoops" would match all three.
