500 Server Error?

Brand new install, I uploaded all the files and now I get a 500 Server Error. I played around with CMOD to make sure the files were setup right.

I know the install.html file says to put it in a root directory. I did not do that, cause I run a website off the root right now and figured I would put it in a XOOPS directory for ease of maintenance. Eventually I would redirect anyone to XOOPS. Maybe that is the issue.

Suggestions anyone?

EDIT: Sorry, this is the latest beta version that I downloaded and installed!

Shouldn't be an issue. I originally ran from root/xoops.

Your sure you have index.php, install.php, install folder all uploaded? Does anonymous have read rights to the directory?

No Luck......I even re-uploaded the install directory files. Still 500 Server Error

Wonder.........I know when I've done other forum packages and what not, sometimes it had to be uploaded BINARY or ASCII. I didn't do that here, just auto. Wonder if that is it?

Is this server and internal or hosted one? Are you sure php/apache/mysql are all functioning correctly?

Run a simple test page and make sure php is configured correctly. I don't think this is an XOOPS error, expecially if it's a new install.

I would think it works, I have mambo loaded as well and it works just fine.

Ok wierd. I deleted it all and uploaded it, this time with CuteFTP. I am to the main install page now. We'll see what happens.

Must of either been a bad upload initially via WsFTP or it didn't like to be uploaded by WsFTP.
