Integrating NewBB into non-Xoops site?

Hi there. Well, I've already got a site and some content on it, but I want my site to be more interactive. And I'm really keen on Xoops/NewBB because the post count is for both the comments on news items and posts in the forum. I think that's great, but I don't really want to transfer my whole site to Xoops. I only want that feature and NewBB. Is there anyway I can integrate this into my site without switching over?

Would be nice to know what type of content you don't want to switch over for?!?

It would be easier to integrate your existing site with xoops. Taking for granted that would already be static pages, if it's another CMS, then you'll not have a easy time of it. For static pages, you can have them wrapped in a module so they are part of xoops.

Bottom line, XOOPS is usually the central nervous system of your website.

Heh. It's not that it's out of the question to switch over, it's just that I'd rather not have to if it's not completely necessary. Well, I don't know if I'm allowed to post up a link here, but here's the review layout: http://www.filmacco.com/reviews/review.php?id=32. Just that I wouldn't want to rebuild it.

As for the main site, I prefer using Dreamweaver just because of "what you see is what you get". When I add content, it's basically like viewing it on the web. I've tried other systems like PHP-Nuke and Movable Type and I always end up making a ton of mistakes.

I might just switch over though, considering that XOOPS has a lot of features I'm aiming for. Hmm too bad this revelation is coming just as school's starting again.

There has been a few sites where XOOPS has been hidden under a html front end, except for a few functions - its not impossible

By using a content module in the Edito, TinyD family, you can have a wysiwyg editor integrated so as to put in content like you do in dreamweaver.

Why do outside of XOOPS what you can do inside? I still have to integrate some outside stuff on my site, but that is because I need other software that are not integratable modules to xoops, and database run. Otherwise any html pages are done in a module.

Thanks for all the replies. It really helped. I think I will be switching over to XOOPS after all I've tried it a few times in the past, but never really used it. I installed iContent and my pages are fitting in nicely. Only a few adjustments to be made.

I just have a question -- is there anyway to edit the dates the files are added? Because I would like to keep the dates as when I wrote the reviews, not when I added them to Xoops. And one last one -- How do I get news to show up automatically on the frontpage? Right now it's a complete blank and I have to click the news link in the navigation..
