I am sorry that I am creating a new topic, but I have searched all the sections and I can't find an answer to my question.

I want to install newbb2 on XOOPS v2.0.9.2

I have not installed the forum module at all. I had a working site and I tried to install newbb2 2.0.2 and I screwed up my working forum. I was not happy.

Could please tell me how to install the latest newbb from the start.

To do a clean install of newBB 2:

1. If the forum module is currently installed, uninstall the forum module (from the XOOPS modules administration page).

2. Delete the contents of the directory modules/newbb/.

3. Extract the contents of the newBB 2 distribution .zip/.tar.gz into modules/newbb/.

4. Install the forum module.

I did that and I got:

"SQL file not found at ..../modules/newbb/sql/mysql.sql"

I am trying to install forum v2.01

there is not a sql folder in my zip folder. Am I using the wrong zip file? What all should a zipped newbb2 folder contain?

Maybe you downloaded the wrong file. You should have downloaded XOOPS2_mod_newbb_2.02.rar or XOOPS2_mod_newbb_2.02.zip fromhttp://dev.xoops.org/modules/xfmod/project/showfiles.php?group_id=1001

That's version 2.02, although the version number in xoops_version.php is (incorrectly) 2.0.1.

let that be a lesson to other people updating their forums... download the right .zip file.

Thanks so much.

Just wondering: is it (with the right file ;)) possible to update an active standard XOOPS forum to newbb2? I have a forum running the standard forum module and would really like to update it.

Since newbb2 seems quite a final release, why isn't it the standard forum in Xoops? Is this something that will change with a next major release of Xoops?

Regards
