hooking modules together

How hard is it to hook modules together so they can share info in a common database. Need to have users access one module and project managers access another and share data.

the entire XOOPS installation uses a common database, what EXACTLY are you talking about trying to do... your question is to ambiguous for any of us to actually help.

I want a module to track jobs and a module for users to check work in and out. My understanding is that each XOOPS module uses a different area of the database and the main module brings them all together, rather than all data being accessable to by all modules.

Check out the xhelp module. It has a lot of the features that you are looking for.
