I'm evaluating XOOPS and one feature i'm really looking for is support for multiple seperate forums. i'm talking about one module that has multiple forums but that they dont see each other and when you search you dont get results from the others.

Not that I am aware of. You'll need to hack the core in order to prevent searching between forums.

I don't know about newbb2, but there is a patch for the original newbb that provides the exact functionality you describe. You can read about it here:
