MAIL SETUP internal error! Help?

Everything in my admin panel is working fine except my Mail Setup. When I click on Mail Setup in the preferences, I got this error:

Quote:

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.


This is what I get when I turn on PHP-Debug

Quote:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 8388608 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 40 bytes) in /var/www/html/kernel/object.php on line 175


Any idea on how I can fix that?

Still cannot resolve this error.... any developer has any clue?

Still can't get this problem fix. I did a fresh install and the MAIL SETUP preference work fine... But then when more users registered (don't know how many--but over 1,000), the MAIL SETUP preference have the same error again.

It sounds like you are using up the allowed resources on the server. Probably should not try to email them all at the same time.

8388608 bytes = 8 MB

I got it fix by increasing the memory_limit in the server etc folder from

memory_limi = 8 MB ;

to

memory_limit = 64 MB ;

16 MB didn't work.
32 MB didn't work. So I have it at 64 MB. Seems like I'm going to have a hard time finding a hosting server from now on...

i have the same problem, every time i want enter in mail setup i get

Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.


the phpdebug directly not popup, my site have 4000 registered users, i not tried to mail the members y only tried to enter in the mail setup.
