Is it possible to make the main menu (or any other block) appear on the home page in the left column but then have nothing in the left column in other sections? If so how?

thanks

I think this is one of those things like they say in the online documentation where how one thinks it should work isn't how it does. So, of course i started there.

In the Administative controls:

if you set the menu to invisible under the "sections" section it is invisible on the home page too. If you reset it to visible under homepage, it is then visible in the sections section.

so.. where under blocks do you set this?

I'm guessing: you have set sections as homepage?

Here's another idea:
- go to sys admin -> blocks
- click on edit to the left of the block you are trying to display
- set to appear on "Top Page"

If sections is not set as to appear on your homepage (sys admin -> preferences -> general settings), this should work.

Hope this helps....
