Some quick F/B

When giving groups 0,1,2 permission to create edito:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in W:\www\wow\modules\edito\xoops_version.php on line 51

for anonymous users.

Removed anonymous permission to post... no change

--------------------------------------

registerd users (not webmasters can see submit link in main menu and can post editos OK. Also edit their own editos.

They cant edit anyone elses editos except their own.

This all works ok.

Just the problem with the anonymous group.

To go back to the earlier point about blocks and images. Im still trying to get the logic straight here ...

in page: module config settings. under [EXT_OPTIONS] Show logos

1- If I tick or untick or tick this option, I dont see any change in logo behaviour. it should Define whether you want to display or hide edito’s logo/picture. according to help file. But in what way?

in Page:Create an edito.

2- If I click "display a logo" 'NO' it will not display a logo in the article, which is correct, but it still does display the logo in the list of articles in the index page. This means the only way not to display a logo in the index page is to select blank.gif in picture for edito. But If I do this, I cant display a logo for the blocks.

Question: in point 1- above what should this option do? I think maybe it should prevent a logo showing in the index page, thus still allowing the option to'create an edito' with a logo in the main page and also the blocks if desired, but inhibiting index page logos.

phew, this is hard to explain easily, I hope I have made it clear!

Thanks for your test. As I said this is a very early test.

Anyway, I'll try to fix that group bug. Funnily it used to work yesterday, and not today. I must have changed something which didn't pleased to... er... it.

Regarding your questions :

1) This is for Extended option, or more simple, default options when you create a new edito. If you uncheck it, for instance, any new edito would have this option unchecked as well. Thus, it has no direct influence on the previously created editos, nore on the module display settings.

2) Exactly. This option concerns the edito page, and not the index page. Maybe we could decide otherwise, and have a general setting to define whether we want index to display the logo or not? Actually, the 'logo max. width' set to '0' solves this.

So to summary, logo display works like this :
1) Block: in the admin setting, you can choose to show the logo or not.

2) Index page: Unless your logo is blank OR you set logo max width to '0', the logo would display.

3) Edito: you can check the corresponding box if you want or not to display the logo.

Any other suggestion, as I imagine and do agree, this is not straightforward, nore too userfriendly (well it's only admin side anyhow).

I tried this in the settings page;
When logo width set to '0'
RESULT:
with existing uploaded images, it creates the edito but still displays the logo.

with new uploads, I get this message

Errors Returned While Uploading
File width must be smaller than 0
File height must be smaller than 0

Either way setting to '0' did not work.

My rational behind wanting to hide the images in the index page is because large images/logos look fine as a heading for an article, but can look very messy when there are several of them like in the index page.

That's just my personal feeling. I would like to be able to turn them off in the index (option), but keep then on in the article and blocks.

You must decide if my request is good or not

lol

My dear friend, I think we have mixed the possible options here.

I was talking about :

Quote:
[INDEX] Logo's width

Standard width of the logos to show in the index page

and not

Quote:
[LOGO] Maximum image width:

Sets the maximum allowed width of an image when uploading.

Ok, ok. I know this setting section is quite "confusing". Thus, I beg the core developpers to develop an option which allow to creat categories in this 'settings'. I got a talk about this with Marcan who told me it is possible.

Maybe a soluton for that problem ?

Ok, so I set [INDEX] Logo's width to 0

and the image still shows on the index page.

(hair is getting shorter)

But you are right, this is not "userfriendly" enough.

I'll change the code so it would accept the "0" as a "no images index" and add the comment in the define. I thinks this is a good compromise until we find a better solution.
