Re: Where are the data stored?

I don't believe that any system can handle that without a very powerful server.

It would probably take a load sharing scheme of some sort maybe a remote db server with several front ends. I can not think of a single server solution.

What does powerful server mean?

Can a web hosting account say that in yahoo do?

Powerful means highpower CPU, lots of memory and probably high speed SCSI disk drives. With the loads that are mentioned here would probably require load balancing between multiple servers to handle the load.

Yahoo hosting probably (most definitely) would not be able to handle these loads.

I think my question has been beyond the scope of xoops, but I hope someone can help me!

Is that meant that it had better to setup my server? And how?

Here is a quick definition of Web Server Load Balancing.

It would require multiple servers, and probably a dedicated database server.

Let me ask some counter-questions:
Do you currently have a site with 30.000 concurrent users? How is that server set up?

If not, I suggest you build your site and see how many users you get, while considering how to expand that setup, when the need arises.
