Hello folks,

I love Xoops, but the problem is, soon after installation I get this message.

"Error [Xoops]: Unable to connect to database in file class/database/databasefactory.php line 34"

I got it after a couple of hours when I tries XOOPS out on my own computer, then, after thinking the problem had to do with my mysql, I uploaded it to my web site. 20 minutes, and the same thing happens.

How do I solve it? What info do you need?

I use no extra modules or anything. Just a theme.


edit: I have read the posts about this issue, but they don't help me much. My problem is consistent, and I'm the single user who has ever used a session.

Can I do something about it? I have access to phpmyadmin, but I'm not that familiar with sql.

I was running a test version on my local machine - went to install XOOPS on my server and how I'm getting that exact same error.

I have tried removing MySQL AND XOOPS and reinstalling both - but I keep getting the same error.

What file needs to be removed or edited?

i'm trying to assist someone with the same error message as above.

in his case, first his MySQL is always halted, i then found it is the bug a a certain version of php, downloaded the latest stable version, and then he got the above error message.

would really apreciate if someone can help pointing what might have been the cause.

so what is php version? php 4.3.10 must install with Zend Optimizer 2.5.7 to work properly

I know that MySQL service is running....

Fortunately for me, I have my own server so I don't have to work with a hosting company.

I mentioned that the service is "compromised".. I've uninstalled MySQL and removed XOOPS - rebooted my server - then reinstalled both - still got the same error message.

Any ideas?

Hey - try this...it worked for me!

Delete all of your cookies and delete all of your temporary internet files (including offline content).

Remember tho...I'm working on my own server - and I'm not working with a hosting site.

But - it's worth a shot.

It is not a matter of having too few connections allocated is it? If the problem materialises over time, it could sound like something like that; that the resources allocated are exhausted.

If you have a default XAMPP installation, this should not be the case, though.

I had the exactly the same problem. I also like traysee, have access directly to the server. I even built a new server specifically to track down the problem. The only module causing this problem was SmartFAQ from the guys at SmartFactory.

I ran the lastest everything, but still the problem continued. Until I read traysee's solution and it worked.

Why I have no idea, the only thing logged by MySQL, IIS, W2k3 Server was that the MySQL service stopped.

I started with a get around by telling the service to restart when it errored, but the IE cleardown did the business.

Well done traysee!

Try it out at SMARTgeeks, not alot a content yet, but serves the demo purpose.
