how to use different templates?

I have uploaded some templates..no problems..
I generated the templates..again no problems..
I selected the templates.. no problem..
no starts the problems...
when i select a theme or template..nothing changes..
i keep the same standard XOOPS template...
where i'm going the wrong way..
what am i missing?

HELP!!!!!

There is a big difference in the terms theme and template in Xoops. Themes skin the site. Templates format the content of modules and blocks.
