I notice that whenever i put tables in the news, it always appear way below and leave a gap between my text and the table. why is that so? i use basic html to create but it doesnt seem to work the right way. pls assist.

do you want put center blocks above news modules?
see this faq:
https://xoops.org/modules/smartfaq/faq.php?faqid=212
in short you must put all Center blocks code above <{$xoops_contents}> in theme.html (it is default for all themes)

I had the same problem with XoopsFAQ. When I removed all of the carrage-returns and spaces I typed when entering the code for the table, it removed the huge space between the text and the table (and showed the proper formatting of the table instead of the hight of the cells being larger than what they should be).
