I took a look at your site and your sample site. I would use
PopnupBLOG2 redwood city.. It has the features you are looking for and many others. It might not look exactly like you want right out of the box. You could make it you homepage with the spotlight news block above it and you would be much like the example you cited.

Your subject matter is loved by the search engines. If you would use original content they would not leave you alone.
The name works everyone I go. I don't have to try an guess a new one each time.
One last tip for your page title. Narrow it down to the subject matter. News is much too broad. You would have a hard time finding it in a search request.
