When a Firefox user tries a link on our XOOPS intranet they get a blank page. An IE user gets the document. The document can be a pdf, xls.

Is this a known problem? I could not find this exact problem in the XOOPS forums. In the Firefox forum this issue was reported but the fix being to clear cache which had no effect.

We are using XOOPS 2.0.7.3.

The HTML XOOPS generates is below:-

content="0; URL=file:///H:/Progress-10.0A-docset/start.pdf">

Hello DavidPR and welcome to XOOPS forums

Have you visited the XOOPS FAQ link. Top of the page is a detailed FAQ on blank pages. Now, this sounds a bit different, so I may be off target, but take a look at the FAQ and try the debug option.

Regards, Richard

Your trying to link to a UNC (BTW you need 5 slashes, i.e file://///) which is by default disabled in Firefox. If you manually type the following in firefox address bar it should work;

file://///H:/Progress-10.0A-docset/start.pdf

You'll need to set checkloaduri to false in each firefox browser.

The FAQ talks about PHP script problems occurring. This is not the case here as XOOPS has successfully sent the html to the browser.

I suspect there is a problem with Firefox(bug or setup) or the HTML that XOOPS generates.

Checking the HTML at http://validator.w3.org/ did not fill me with confidence.

By changing the security.checkloaduri value was enough to get the link working.

To do this in firefox (I have 1.0) type about:config in the address. This gives you access to the config.

It was not necessary to define the link with five slashes ie. file:////G: ...

Thanks for your help.

Cool, glad it helped . They must've change the 5 slash thing then. If you do a search for UNC on the firefox support forums I'm sure they said you must use 5. If it works with 3, then that is obviously out of date.
