I've been setting a new XOOPS site and everything has been going fine until just recently. Now for some reason it hangs for quite awhile after logging in. It seems to hang whenever the start (main) page is loaded, even if already logged in.
I've recently added a ads module, but it's not on the start page and hardly anything is in it yet. I've been adjusting some of the blocks and whats viewed on what page. I just tried enabling the cache for most of the pages in the prefs, but it doesn't seem to make a difference.

It used to load really fast, and nothing major has been changed on the start page. I do have a headlines module displayed on the start page with two RSS feeds, but it has always loaded fast.

Any tips - suggestions on why a site would get slow to load?

Try enabling MySQL debug and see if there are excessive amounts of SQL queries or load times

You can also try to use the eliminate-by-exception and turn off the headlines module and see if that helps.

BTW the rss-feeds are working? Maybee not.

I turned off the headlines and it still hung.
I tried the PHP debug mode but I have no idea what I'm supposed to do with it... turned it back off.

scottswan, I made the test: (Firefox/MSIE)

1. 56 kb modem = 4 secs.

2. 1 MB ADSL = 2 secs. (or less)

I think it is ok.
