It might be not really related with XOOPS.

I have released my XOOPS site for about 4 months now. I don't really understand how to read the usage stats I received for the website.

The following is the Dec stat I had.

Monthly Statistics for December 2004

Total Hits 302677
Total Files 159064
Total Pages 8297
Total Visits 1832
Total KBytes 3440665

Total Unique Sites 2232
Total Unique URLs 1130
Total Unique Referrers 537
Total Unique User Agents 343

. Avg Max
Hits per Hour 406 4070
Hits per Day 9763 19107
Files per Day 5131 9835
Pages per Day 267 589
Visits per Day 59 102
KBytes per Day 110989 350850

How can I tell how many unique persons accessing my website through the stats above?

Should I install the current available XOOPS stat module, to get a better stats compare to the standard one I have above?

Really appreciate you assistance. Thanks.

I am not sure how your host is set up. It sounds from the figures that these are from Webalizer web stats.

Judging from your figures, the best ones are the Average and Max Visits per day. But that gives no indication of how many were unique visitors.

If it is available, use AwStats. At the top of the page it gives me the total number of visitors and the total number of unique visitors (as well as the percentage of returning visitors. For example:

This is my toppage summary for last month-

Reported period Month Dec 2004
First visit 01 Dec 2004 - 00:15
Last visit 31 Dec 2004 - 23:59

Unique visitors
618

Number of visits
1114
(1.8 visits/visitor)

Pages
24045
(21.58 pages/visit

Hits
173465
(155.71 hits/visit)

Bandwidth
836.98 MB
(769.35 KB/visit)

Just remember none of the stats are 100% accurate. I have three available on my server webalyzer, AwStats, and analog stats, and they all have slightly different figures. I use all as a guide to figure generally if my site is improving or not.

module based stats may well be easier to interpret. For example I use phpstats on my site from webmaster76.com I think they are very easy to understand and informative.

istats is also a good module. Just be aware that module based stats and third party stats may slow your site down if you had thousands of visitors/page views per day.
