could anyone from Dev-team explain how the karma system in NewBB 2 works?

one post = 50 karma. Thats all it does currently. But they are planning on expanding it.

how can member knows their current karma points?
it is accumulate but when a post request points then deduct from ur points?
and, is that possible to adjust member get karma point from each post?
like one post change to 5 points and not 50.
