The installation went smoooth. The administration was excellent, but when i tried to install a new theme the site became all white. Just empty pages. How do i get back to a useful theme?

Overwrite the files in the theme directory that doesn't work with the files from the default theme. Then log into the control panel and reset your theme to default.

Future reference: It's usually a good idea to use a Tabbed browser like Firefox when testing new themes. That way you can keep your admin section open in one tab while you test theme on your homepage in another tab.
