Hello everyone

I tried a lot to get an answer to my question of how to translate XOOPS into chinese/ arabic or for that matter any other language. So i am starting to work on it on my own.

Some help needed.

went to install/language/install.php and change this line

define('_INSTALL_CHARSET','x-user-defined');

So that the character set is user defined.

Now I go to install/style.css and change

body {
font-family : telugulipi, tahoma, osaka,taipei,verdana, arial, helvetica, sans-serif;
}

the first font is the one i want to use.

The install page shows ???????? instead of my characters.

what is missing?

cheers,
prasad..

Maybe this will help http://www.sirigina.com/telugulipi/howtopublish.asp

Also, why do you include the latin-alphabet type fonts in your font declaration? And have you changed ALL font-family settings, or just for the body (in install/style.css)?

Like your efforts! Good luck, and keep up the good work. Hope you will be able to resolve the problem.

hi

I thought of learning it the hard way!:) I initially thought i will change the language with the installation. If i succed then it will be easy to do a translation for the laguage files from other directories and some imp modules.

Only the start is a problem. It somehow doesnt recognise the font. I changed the charset to x-user-defined and i see that the installation page reads it as i can see from the source of the page.

I just need to know where is the font type for installation defined? Is it style.css in the install dir? As i told i have already changed it to look for telugulipi first.

I am not the one who will give up easily. I will do it!:)

Cheers,
prasd..

Hey prasad!

Good to see your enthusiasm I like people with that kind of attitude

I just checked the file install/install_tpl.php. Everything during install is displayed in a table, so you will need to change this declaration

td        {

font-family tahomaosaka,taipei,verdanaarialhelveticasans-serif;

as you did with the body.

Regards
JasonMR

PS: Keep me uptodate on your efforts, maybe I can get a friend of mine, to create a Bengaly translation....I want to see XOOPS in as many languages as possible, especially the "non typical" (from a westerners perspective)!

Hi,

could you send me the font, and I'll take another look tomorrow morning. It's 1:32am, and I'm up since 5, and need some rest.

Regards
JasonMR
