I am also trying shoutbox v2

I am able to install the module with any errors altought it does not show up in my Control panel.

But I do see it on the main webpage..when I click on in just bring up a bank page.

Using APACHE on WINDOWS2003
Alot of people talk about chmod your files in Unix but
what do I do if I'm using windows ?? Just allow IUSRMAchine Full access???

The news article had a wrong version number (version 2 in place of 3), I have asked it to change it later.

So are you running version 2 or 3 RC1? Download the lastest version to make sure you aren't running any other version.

And about the blank page, shoutbox doesn't contain a mainpage, it exists of a block with a popup. This is clearly stated in the readme file (not that long to read )

Chmod means giving dirs/files rights. A bit the same like read-only in windows. You must make sure the file is writeable by the user who is running php.

YOU HAVE TO INSTALL THE WHOSONLINE MODULE IN ORDER TO GET THE POPUP TO WORK ! <<<---- have that already but never saw a popup before



If you set the access rights be sure to change the rights for the block and the main THIS IS NECESSARY <<
