Hello!
I am a newbie, but I like XOOPS a lot!
So everything is fine.. The look, the options..
But I have one problem..
And this is the front page! Or the top page..
So I want there some blocks in the middle.. For example - The story of the day.. I choose it to be visible, I choose the position. Ok, but only the title of the news shows up on the front page. I want a part of the text to be on the top page too. Or if the news is not too long, I want all of it to be visible. How can I make te latest news to be shown with the text?
Not only the title?
And one more question..
I installed the section module. I created 5 sections in the articles.. In the main menu there is link now, called "articles"
But I also want a small block in the middle of the top page. Called "Articles" or "Recent articles" or something like that..
I know that in "Preferences" I can choose "Articles" to be shown on my top page.. But this is not what I want.
I want one small block with latest news in the top left corner for example.. Another block next to it, on the top right position with latest articles from the sections..
How can I do that?
I mean is there such an option? Without digging into the PHP code?

Did you setup the group permissions correctly (found under: system admin/ groups)?

The problem I think is not in the group permissions
Because the block is visible on the top page.
I just want in these news to have some text also.
Not only the title
And I also want the same block but with articles.
It is s simple:
I install the "sections" module
I create 5 categories there
For example "Sport", "Computers", "Other news", "Politics"
then i add an article in one of them
For example "Computers"
And then
I want visitor to see on the top page a block
Articles
or
New articles
Ant the title above it of the new article.
With some text in it
And the same with news
I post news
And here it is on the top page
BUT:
The story of the day:
Today most read story is:
****Title****
that's it!

But I want some text from the news body under this title!

If you want x news articles to show up with text on your front page, you just set the News module as the top page module

Re. the Sections block, isn't there a block for that? I thought there was - otherwise see if one of the newer article management modules isn't better for you as the Sections module is getting rather old.

Xoops.org uses the spotlight module (slightly modified) to show the latest news on the front page. It only shows the last item though.

Great! The spotlight is OK!
And something more.. Very easy!
I have "Sections" module.
With for example 3 categories.
So I post an article in one of these 3 categories.
I need a module which will show the title of this article on the top page!
Don't tell me there isn't such a module
If there is NOT then XOOPS is far far away from the good ones.
Why I have such a module like "Sections" module then?
Who will look for the articles?
When there is no chance for a block on the top page?
I need something like
Last articles block FOR THE TOP PAGE!
