I now have a subdomain adress likehttp://www.<myname>.<provider>.com/xoops. Since an few days I have registered a domainname at that same hosting provider. My site is now working at both adresses. But for cosmetical reasons I want to change the settings in XOOPS so it points to that domainname in stead of the subdomain.

I've found these settings in the mainfile.php. Can I change the URL of my site in this file without having the risk that my site becomes totally damaged? And do I have to change other settings?

As far as I know, those are the only settings you need to change.

I did a similar change, fromhttp://dune.servint.com/newsite tohttp://dune.servint.com, and it worked like magic.

Of course, backup your mainfile.php first (NOT IN THE SAME DIR, people can access it directly if you change the extension).

I need BIG HELP...

I have recently changed my domain name TOTALLY...but with the same host, and server......I changed my doamin name...the index page is ok....it indexs to my new domain...but when I try to logg in.... I get "http://www.olddomainname.com/user.php".....How can I render this to work right...so when I logg in it defaults to my new Domain name. I went to the mainfile.php and changed the XOOPS Virtual Path (URL)...nothing happens..
