Ok this may have been answered but i cant find it.

How do you make the homepage show recent News, recent forum posts, recent Xgallery pics, the search bar, and all this extra stuff that this site and xgallery.org has on its homepage?

Is there a way to display a preview to several different modules at once on the homepage? well i know there is because Ive seen it, but how do I do it.

Im pretty new to php so please explain it to me simple.

can't really understand your question.

hope it answer your question: go to the admin page, select "system" and then "block". you should be able to pick which block you want to show in your homepage (depending the modules you have installed).
