New Members Block

Hi all
Could someone please help me with the block size for the New Members block
It is too wide because of the "date Joined" section.
I know that somewhere along the line I clicked Yes to add Date Joined. But now I cant change it back.
I have tried to alter the template but without success.

go to system admin -> blocks and edit "New Members" block

this is the system_block_newusers.html:

the number of characters in user id affects the width of the block. i noticed the first member listed is 15 characters.

Didnt even think of the user name length - but looking at it now I feel
I tried to alter template by opening Edit Template in the box above. But I guess that is really just a view. To edit properly I think I would need to chmod and edit on FTP or in account.
Is there anyway not to turn off date, or would I need to just delete

<{$user.joindate}>

<{/foreach}>

to edit templates you need to clone a set first: http://www.dcdezines.ca/modules/articles/article.php?articleID=7

Oh yeah. I played with about 7 CMS systems when setting up and love XOOPS and its support
