how do i get the news to load on the front page?

I just installed XOOPS on my development host. How do i get news post to load by default so that everyone that visits the page will see the latest news?

you can set this in system admin -> preferences -> general settings. it gives you the option to choose which module you want on your start page.

Well I have one last question. BTW i want to say what a killer piece of work XOOPS is. It is SO complete. I am starting a new forum and along with promoting it on google I WILL be a contributor! This way I can concentrate on the running of the site and not messin with code. Anyway, back to my question, how do i get the forum link in the main menu for anonymous users? I dug around in the admin section and didnt see anything in there about it.

You need to set permissions to the Anonymous group.

Admin--->System---->Groups

Then click on Modify for Anonymous group and check the boxes of the modules you them to have access.

Same goes for Registered users.
