URGENT help please

I have my XOOPS .sql database backup that i need to get reinstalled... it is 40mb and mysqladmin doesn't seem to do the trick... i tried under SSH, but there i get the error -> "ERROR 1153 at line 431: Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet'"

I already tried MySQL -u root -p --max_allowed_packet=64MB test < test.sql ... but it remains the same... is there anyone who can help?
I've been trying for 5hours :(

have you contacted your host to ask them?

my host did it for me, or they did something anyway and it worked, I had problems with one DB, it's over 180mb (a lot of pm's too).

i'm on a dedicated box, and i'm supposed to do it all myself... i contacted them and they don't see what's wrong, and don't seem to be willing to look into it...

Why not cut it into pieces, wouldn't it be quicker.

I think he may mean open the SQL file and add sections at a time, I could wrong though.

it would work, although a very boring job.

Yes that's it but it shouldn't take long.

Open the sql file in a text editor, copy half of it and paste it into phpMyAdmin directly, or save it, as lets say 1stCut.sql.then 2ndCut.sql

Then do the same with the other half.

the sections like forum and downloads again give the same error... so that's no solution either :(

is there anyone who can import this database in their MySQL and send me the resulting mysql-files?
i'll give a permanent link on a PR5 site... :)
