blueteen, you are a marvel! I can't thank you enough for the help you've given me to fit multiMenu 1.8 into my needs.
With reference to the last few messages:
I should have thought to make the submenu invisible to anon, just like the parent mainmenu. Normally one would, but I was just testing visibility when logged off vs logged on.
Your method of centering the top nav bar menu and generating the bullets between items is much more sophisticated and better than my kludge. I wish I had the programming skills to come up with that solution myself. I can understand what you've done when I see it, but can't do it from scratch.
Finally, I don't know how the template files got duplicated (quintiplicated?). It must have happened during the upgrade, even though the whole folder was deleted and replaced by the new version. At any rate, as you asy, it now works correctly.
One other note:
On my aka.org site I have a note at the bottom of the menu called "The Basics" to help users recognize that [#] indicates that they have PMs waiting. I tried to use the Note menu type for that, but then it will only appear when the mainmenu item above it is open. To make it show permanently I had to set it as mainmenu. I wonder whether it might be useful to have a menu type "mainnote" that appears at the mainmenu level, but does not act as a link. I can see that some users might also want to have a note appear at the submenu level. I hope you understand what I mean.
How close are we to having a release version? I am considering using the RC2 version on my live site, as it's doing everything that I need.
Multimenu 1.8 is a wonderful upgrade to the older version. I particularly value the ability to generate that nav bar, with specific menu items appearing only to certain groups. It's great, and I thank you and Solo again.
