Yeah, the site is elderhope.com. I hope it helps. I may not be understnding what its supposed to do but it certainly is not creating links like I saw on your site snakes. Thank you both for your responses and help.

I looked @ your site Chappy, and it seems like nothing in there from the hack ...

Since there's no clue to it in your code, and it all needs to be a template hack, I have just one question:

Did you updated your module after code changes ?

So, I know I'm just going to end up kicking myself here in some way or another. Have you had those times when you couldn't find the problem for the life of you, you know mostly what you're doing, somewhat, but there's something somewhere screwed up and you just can't get a handle on it. Well, this is the most recent example in recent memory of that feeling for me. I have updated the system module, the weblinks module, both of them multiple times; I deleted the files in the templates_c directory, I set general prefs to "Update module template .html files from themes/your theme/templates directory", all to no avail. I just checked the file weblinks_header.html and the first six lines read:

line 6 of weblinks_link.html reads:

All the other files in the module directory have been edited as prescribed and updated.

I cleared out my browser cache (on both IE and FF), I turned off zlib compression, turned off caching on the module, all of these in case the data was being saved in cache. No luck though.

I am completely mystified as to why the file itself would have the proper code in it but the code doesn't make it, apparently, to be displayed.

At this point, I suppose the hack wouldn't matter that much but it is now a matter of pride and learning (AKA I'm PO'd).

Any thoughts would be appreciated...

Hi Chappy,

Do you happen to use cloned templates? If so then you will need to delete and regenerate the changed templates manually in the clone.

yeah, or you can also right click on the system icon in the admin and click on "templates", look at the template set you are using and edit the one of weblinks. Or regenerate them.

But in principle, this should be regenerated automatically when you upgrade the module...

I'm off to my job at the hospital at the moment, but I will take care of that later this evening. I knew it was something simple like that, just didn't have any idea what. Anyway, we'll give her a shot later. I do appreciate the help...

I just couldn't wait... Gave it a shot and yeeeehaaaah, and it worked. Good thing you'all weren't here or you'd have gotten a slobbery kiss . Do appreciate it very much. It was absolutely driving me crazy.

Great Hacks!!!

How could I export weblinks data? Then import that data back into a fresh copy of weblinks on another website. Could you give an example?


BTW Thanks for all your hard work. This module is awesome!

With the module XOOPS DB Backup & Restore 3.0 you can make backups of your SQL database tables and restore them.
You can save the backup files to a directory on your server or have the backup files sent to you by email.
This module has the script bigdump.php integrated so it can handle big tables ('til 50MB I think).

Okay i've been playing with this tonight and so far its rockin.

I have question...

Im trying to set up reciprocal linking with other sites but the weblinks module still has...

http://www.mysite.com/modules/weblinks/viewcat.php?cid=1

Now my links to other websites because of snakes hack are 100% hard links.

The problem is the different categories within weblinks still have the dreaded(php?cid=whatever)behind them.

So how do the search engines get to the hard coded links?

How can I make the "cats" a hard link so google can get to the linking sites?
