If you look in the "Powered by" block of my site, I've got their button there. The strange thing is, if you run http://mywebresource.com vs. http://www.mywebresource.com, you get two results.

http://mywebresource.com = 8.8
http://www.mywebresource.com = 8.1

I'm actually finding that a good bit of the problem I'm having is related to *not* using www in my links. Apparently http://www.mywebresource.com has a PR of 2 while mywebresource.com has a PR of 0.

Considering it's the exact same site, I don't quite understand this. You would think the all-powerful Googlebot would be advanced enough to recognized that the www and non-www sites are one in the same. Oh well.

Thanks for mentioning Silktide though! It's a fantastic resource many people don't know about.

Best Regards,

James

The standard URL tip is excellent! The only problem is that my host imposes very tight restrictions; therefore, all attempts at mod_rewrite result in "500 error".

I see your point though. Since http://www.mywebresource.com is the domain with the higher PR, I'm going to be fixing all the internal links on the site so they point to http://www.mywebresource.com. I orignailly just wanted to use mywebresource.com, but it seems many people are still very much in the habbit of typing www. When I check my referrer logs, http://www.mywebresource.com is the most common entry.

Thanks again!

James

Nice tips. Also I wanted to ask, how many people are involved in mywebresource. If you are alone I would suggest to build a team of at least 3 people (included you). Your site is to big to be maintained only from you.

I have forgotten to tell that if you build a mailing list or send a newsletter with some article would be a reason for your members to come over and over. I send at least one newsletter per month with the latest articles (not full just titles and links) and I see that the members come to see them.

Great tip panigrc. I like the newsletter idea a lot.

I just brought on two other members as Co-Admins in the past week. Once they get a feel for the site, they'll be more active in helping me keep the content updated. It didn't take long at all to realize that MyWebResource couldn't be a one man show. Especially considering everything else I've got going on.

Thank you all for your great advice. I will be implementing your suggestions as soon as possible.

Best Regards,

James

I am happy that I could help. If you get results please send me a pm and tell me about them. Or start a new thread. Such information and experience is useful for all webmasters.

Or even better wright down an article about your personal experieces and post it to your site. That is realy valuable.
