There is no Xoops Engine anymore in our plans. If you followed the August discussions and news, DJ decided go "private" with the XE code and create his "private" fork out of it.
Our current focus is on XOOPS 2.x series, with XOOPS 2.6.0 Alpha being released soon.
This will be a totally refactored Core, compliant with PHP 5.3 and 5.4 E_STRICT. All old XOOPS code as well as PHP 4 code is gone. The performance will be improved. What we'll have is a "lean and mean" XOOPS Core, that will be a foundation for all future development. You can follow the changes to XOOPS 2.6.0 Core on
XOOPS SVNAfter that there will be XOOPS 2.7, possibly XOOPS 2.8, and later XOOPS 3.0.
