Hi All

Xoops 2.0.10

I've been reading about ShortURL and Simplified URL, and I'm trying to sort out what is current and what the differences are.

ShortURL does this:

[Default]http://www.domain.com/modules/news/article.php?storyid=1279
[Converted]http://www.domain.com/article1279.html

Simplified URL does this:

[Default] http://xoops_site/modules/news/article.php?storyid=1
[Converted] http://xoops_site/news+article.storyid+1.htm

1. Is the ShortURL outcome better?

2. Do both hacks work with XOOPS 2.0.10?

3. I read about ShortURL 0.3, but dang if I can find it. I tried the download link over at http://www.wtmmail.com/modules/mydownloads/singlefile.php?cid=1&lid=1
...but no luck

It sounds like ShortURL is old but Simplified URL is more current, but I like the output of ShortURL

Thanks for any help

Maybe you should use simplified_url because as you said it seems that shorturl is a bit old.
I use simplified_url with XOOPS 2.0.10 no problem..

Don't forget to download simplified_url 1.04 on china XOOPS this is the last release :)

Hi - thanks

I tried to find Simplified URL 1.04, but no luck.

I tried the following link:

http://www.suin.jp/modules/mydownloads/visit.php?cid=3&lid=9

but I couldn't connect.

Would you be able to send me the Simplified URL 1.04 module?

(crossing fingers.... ...)

Many thanks

No problem:

First try downloading it here:

http://xoops.suin.jp/mydownloads/singlefile.cid/7/lid/36.cgi

Click on "zip" icone and it will work!

Read carefully "readme" file and i think you will not have any problem.

If you want your url to be displayed http://www.yoursite.com/index-essai.htm instead of http://www.yoursite.com/index+essai.htm, search on this forum and you will find the solution.

Have a good day.

You can see simplified_url on my website : http://www.easy-achat.com

Suin's Simplified URLs can be downloaded from XOOPS Tips

http://xoops-tips.com/mydownloads-singlefile.cid-1-lid-22.htm

We are providing the dowload temporarily. Reynaldo's ShortURLs is also available from XOOPS Tips.

I would prefer ShortURl because of the rewritten URL's (i prefer http://www.mydomain.com/article1.html over http://www.domain.com/m-news-article-1.htm). But though the URL rewriting works well, i get blank pages or (with debug on) this PHP error: Fatal error: "Call to a member function on a non-object in C:\xoops\html\header.php on line 100". Strangest thing (at least to me) is, if i do the URL rewriting myself, i get this error as well, unless i use the [R]edirect flag at the end of the RewriteRule in .htaccess.

If someone knows enough about Xoops, PHP and/or mod_rewrite to hint me, it would be more than appreciated.
