thanks for this advice :)

This moves me forward.

I seem to have a problem with wfsections after the downgrade. Individual articles are still available but the index for the module is blank.

thanks

Andrew

I finally got this script to work.

I had to restore my database to a previous version

Then upload 2.0.13.2 then run downgrade.php

Which launches an install...

Once complete the script should relaunch to downgrade.php and give options to downgrade.

(I wasn't sure if the script was working before or not - it wasn't I now know what i should have expected).

I now have to investigate what to do with...

I did the upgrade on my test site and got the error

Connection to database server is OK.
Database colournat exists and connectable.
Tables for XOOPS2 already exist in your database.

(last line)

how/why is this?

Hi all,

I'm trying to downgrade 2.2.3 to 2.0.13.2 and I'm trying to use the downgrade script.

I've setup a full copy of my site on my personal computer using XAMPP http://www.apachefriends.org/en/xampp-windows.html#1168

Everything seemed to be working fine on the test server.

I uploaded the files for 2.0.13.2 over my existing install.

Then I uploaded and ran the downgrade script.

The downgrade instantly ran the install script for 2.0.13.2 is that what is to be expected?

When I completed the install I got the following errors (could this be an error associated with the test sever?).

Can anyone else suggest anything...

File ../mainfile.php overwritten by ../mainfile.dist.php.
Failed writing constant X:/program files/xampp/htdocs.
Failed writing constant http://localhost.
Failed writing constant mysql.
Failed writing constant xoops.
Failed writing constant localhost.
Failed writing constant username.
Failed writing constant password.
Failed writing constant databasename.
Failed writing constant 0.
Failed writing constant 1.
Failed writing constant 2.
Failed writing constant 3.
Failed writing constant 1.

Configuration data has been saved successfully to mainfile.php.

then on clicking 'next' a white page with...

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $end in X:\program files\xampp\htdocs\mainfile.php on line 32

any ideas?

two questions blocks and forums

Hi yall

I've just been tring to upgrade one site to 2.0.13.2 and downgrade another from 2.2.3 to 2.0.13.2 which as throwjn up two questions.

On the first site (which is at 2.0.10 at the moment if I upgrade beyond that forum posts stop being visble - is there a solution), how do I change the layout of my central blocks so that the full width blocks appear above left and right blocks? I know this is not the default config so I need to change it but I'm just not sure where.

Also on 2.2.3 and forums how do I default forums to show all messages from the beginnings rather than the last 100 days which seems to be the current option? I'm sure someone knows this one I can find no option in admin but perhaps there is. I'm using newbb.

thanks

Andrew

filezilla seems to work well although it too had some problems (my site is very large) should i switch off my site before copying all the files to reduce problems copying?

I have spare webspace and can create a copy site on actual web space (although maybe I should actually create a test server here on my pc for speed of access etc).

But what is the actual process for copying and restarting the site?

is it best to:-

a) do a clean install with a linked sql database
b) copy the php files over the top of the installation from the site to be copied.
c) then assuming phpmyadmin plugin works I can restore the database?

is this the best way to restore?

Ok I've made the decision to downgrade from 2.2.3 back to 2.0.13.

I have the downgrade script - has anyone used it there seemed to be no comments about how easy it was to use.

Next question I want to backup my site and create a copy to test the downgrade before I do it on the live site.

I'm a bit inexperienced with this stuff.

I have phpmyadmin installed and have backed up the sql database althought I'm not sure I have ticked all the right boxes when doing this. I'm also not sure how to restore.

I've ftp copied all the php for the site to my local pc.

Should I install a clean install of XOOPS 2.2.3 and link to a db then copy all the backup php over that install and restore the database?

How's the best way to tackle it?

thanks

Andrew

ps. should i be able to simply copy the php side of the site using cuteftp or whatever - I'm getting a lot of errors with 99% downloaded for example.

sorry checked taht - turned on debug and got

Warning: Unterminated comment starting line 402 in /home/salorev/public_html/kernel/member.php on line 402

Parse error: parse error, unexpected $, expecting T_OLD_FUNCTION or T_FUNCTION or T_VAR or '}' in /home/salorev/public_html/kernel/member.php on line 402

checking 402 it says...

function updateByField(&$comment, $field_name, $field_value)
{
$comment->unsetNew();
$comment->setVar($field_name, $field_value);
return $this->insert($comment);
}

/**
* Delete all comments for one whole module
*
* @param int $module_id ID of the module
* @return bool
**/

which looks ok to my novice eye
