or are you wanting users to just upload files so you can use them.. example: a user wants to submit his CV or demo program for you to look at.

i am an engineer myself.. lol and yes i do sometimes get accused of going into technical & engineering terminology and detail sometimes when a brief yes/no or opinion is wanted, it's because i analyse too much and think too logically at times.. i tend to get accused of being too serious when i'm talking instead of just being normal. even my jokes & sarcasm can be taken too seriously because of the way i express them.

and yes, 1 account per user.. why should anybody need more than 1 account except for what dave_l mentioned.

if you become stalked, it's dead easy to ask an admin to change your username etc. but that won't stop a stalker, neither will creating a new account, because many people tend to post the same way, and that person will inevitably get the attention of the stalker again because the person will still be posting in the same way as before.. it will only be a matter of time.

and don't take this the wrong way KC, but if it was just the coordinators who were judge & jury, then please tell me what members of the coordination team were here for the past 3 - 4 years when Damaster was causing all that grief. you are relatively new to XOOPS as a fully active member, i don't hold that aginst you, but i do consider it as an inexperience of Damasters antics.

@Darcy, you say you have read all Damasters posts? have you read the posts from his other many accounts here too?

xguide, nuno are 2 more of his.. he has many many more of which i can't recall the names right now.

and yes he did post using herko's account unauthorised when he was using the xguide username. i'm sure you'll find references to it if you search.

XOOPSaddons is the addons module repository, it's work forums are based on XI. public read yes, join the team and you can post.. it simply stops all the noise and people butting in every 2 minutes. private forums? lmao this very xoops.org site has private forums.

every team has a private forum.. or did you not know that?

when the addons site is open, there will be public open forums for modules etc that are hosted on addons, where support for each module can be given better than comment system etc.. there's a lot you missed because you aren't in the teams over there..

and having private forums that are used just for team chatter or what have you, is not going against open source.. that's an old argument, drop it.

the council has a private forum too, go ask them to open that forum..

core devs have private discussions, go ask them to open all their private discussions up.. i think you'll find if they were forced to do that then people would find other alternatives of discussing privately

and we have lots of communication on XI, you just don't hear it because you don't want to hear it.

create multiple topics of the same name. then assign permissions for those topics.

that way when a person from groupb posts, he only has permission to submit in those topics + he will only see those articles in those topics...

it's a workaround anyway, but a little more work admin side.

permissions on stories could be added by hacking the module a bit, wouldn't take all that much work just to add a group select for each article.
