I also have this problem but not with all users, the discrepancy varies widely with our most active daily posters showing last login as recently as the previous day or weeks ago.

I only recently noticed this so dont know how consistant it is per user.

I have turned off custom session today as I read in another thread that this could be involved and am watching the situation.

Why do you say it's a result of having cookies disabled?

Well apparently Rachel the prefix manager was not added to protector until version 2.30RC and not fixed until version 2.30RC2.

The latest version is 2.37

So I guess you should update.

Hmm, No answer came the stern reply.

Well we will definitely be implimenting further security, so as a novice I guess I have a lot of reading to do.

This may be a coincidence but the account holder under suspicion (who does know our Db prefix) posts jumped from a genuine 10 to a spurious 56 today. This only showed in the top posters block, not against their profile.

This has not happened with any other of the 100+ members.

The problem was fixed by edit user synchronise.

Just because you are paranoid it does not mean they aint out to get you I always say.

Later on my crew pointed out that my own posts had gone down by about the same amount (which I was to busy to notice). This time the reduced posts showed on my profile as well as in the top posters block.

Now I am really paranoid, can this really be coincidence?

Also I dislike the fact that my cuurent ISP runs with globals on and url open enabled. Thats going to have to go even if it means moving hosts.

Interesting but nothing proved.

Your client/affiliate should have given you a unique ID

You put this in click URL box in your banner control panel

It's everything after ?

EG.http://www.123-reg.co.uk/affiliate.cgi?id=########

(real example ID hashed out)

or similar. Check their site for details it might not be a cgi script they use some uses javascript or something it varies.

It's a URL variable. No url variable and their server simply does not log it it as "one from an affiliate"

Hard to say more without seeing the code you have in banner manager and if they don't use this system you are going to have to ask them.

Sorry if I'm restateing the question here but the code was a bit dense for me I'm not that savvy with http but trying to learn.

Problem I am chasing in a nutshell is why are clicks not counted when html code is used instad of an image and url.

thats my problem as it's a drag to keep logging into my affiliate control panel to see how the banners are doing.

I also have a client who requires the click to come from my site root or an error is generated not a hit.

we have a nice php page in root that deals with this, it was written by my ex partner and again I don't fully understand the code but happy to share it here if anyone has THAT problem.

I assume you are using the "use html" option.

Is your unique ID included in that code?

Can you post the code here?

I have a couple of clients running from standard system with no problems RE: showing up in the clients logs but it took me a little while to get it right.

One has to come from root of my site to register and my ex partner wrote a cute php page that handles that.

My problem is that where the use html option is selected the ammount of clicks is not recorded in the XOOPS management system only impressions??

Would appreciate any help with this because it's a drag having to keep logging in to the affiliate control panel to see how the banners are doing.

Is there any foolproof way to change this on a live site, anything in the way of tools, or do you just need the sql command line, and a very clear head?

Having finally managing to restore my database, after doing something silly I wanted to change my prefixes as a few copies were mailed out during the crises and I now consider it a problem.

I think it's the php tag and comments in an sql file (shouldn't be there), not sure which file, my girlfriend fixed it for me. Will get back to you after I speak to her if no one else replies first.

Hang one on that guys. I tried to install it last night and there is an error. The archive contains xoops_version.php.bak and I tried reverting to that and no joy, so I guess this copy has been hacked around some.

I went to SOE gamers (thanks Arowana but download is for members/reegistered only only and it seemed kinda dishonest to register just to grab their version (call me silly if you like). Also Wargames based on real conflicts/scenarios upset me (again call me silly if you like, but it takes all sorts right?)

May be that my partner can work out what's wrong with it but she is real busy on a contract just now and point blank refuses to look at any code outside working hours at the moment.

However as I write I notice ejuden01 has posted RE the error. Now that's community in action wouldn't you say?
