Hello,

I am trying to learn how to develop XOOPS modules, but it is a bit hard to start. I have a couple questions, and was wondering if anyone can contact me via ICQ or AIM to answer them - those are probably very basic questions, but I need this initial guidance.

My ICQ is 3675161, AIM is amfiolai.

Thank you in advance!

Is this possible to send the same PM to multiple people?

Why won't you include your index.html file into index.php?

Or make a block to be displayed on index.php, and put your index.html in there?

Session expires too fast

My session expires too fast - people get logged out within an hour or less, while I have custom session on, and session expiration is 1000. I used to have session expiration of 240, and it seemed to work longer than 1000.

Suggestions?

Please please please tell me that newbb2 will store what posts I've read in the database and not in cookies. If I move computer, or use a public computer, cookies are hell - all the posts turned to be unread as soon as I logout.

As far as I know, those are the only settings you need to change.

I did a similar change, fromhttp://dune.servint.com/newsite tohttp://dune.servint.com, and it worked like magic.

Of course, backup your mainfile.php first (NOT IN THE SAME DIR, people can access it directly if you change the extension).

Yes, looks much much better.

I have the following suggestions:

1. Change the order of your blocks to be articles, news, new posts, recent blogs.
2. Make new posts invisible to anonymous users, and maybe even blogs.
3. Most important, make the opening text shorter, letters bigger. It looks like a big collection of something, I did read it, sounds nice, but I only did it because I know what this site is about and wanted to make sure I read before feedbacking. Too threatening to read at first. You could also divide it to paragraphs - it helps reading.
4. On top, left, you have a cool banner, but the banners on the right don't align well with it, so there is a big white empty space under the left banner.
5. I think it can be solved by removing "Linux banner network. Click here to join" and putting it somewhere else on the page, somewhere down there.
6. I'd make the login box to be only username, password and the login button (IE get rid of lost password and register now links) and use your top navigation bar (with Join the libervis.community here! Login ) to be like:
Register now! | Lost password
(no need for login, you already have it on the right).

That's it

I am not site designer, I am only suggesting what I would do if the site was mine.

I'd like to hear your review of the site I recently created, the link is in my signature. There is a thread about it, so no need to review it here.

Thank you!

I limited my problem to reading a file from another website with php. I did it with javascript, now need to do it with php.

This is how I did it with javascript:
<SCRIPT LANGUAGE="Javascript" SRC="my_url_and_file_here"></SCRIPT>

The text file I am reading begins with 'document.write("' and ends with '");', so it basicly displays the content of the file on the page. But this is Javascript.

How can I do it with php?

Heh, nice.

Actually, it is my site, and it is located on the same machine, and I have access to both the sites. Problem is that I can't due to different restrictions use the same httpd, so I have 2 of them.

Ok, so I understand I can embed only static content this way, and only content I have access to.

How can I embed dynamic content from other sites in it?
