I have just lost my entire database.

10 MONTHS and over 9,200 articles.

WTF!!!!

I was creating some new subcategories and duplicating articles into those subcategories.

I tried to create a 3rd level of subcategories which didn't work.
I had categories>restaurant recipes and sub categories
category>restaurant recipes>#
category>restaurant recipes>A
category>restaurant recipes>B
With another category under the alpha, which was the restaurant name.

Not only did it not work, but the subcategories A,B, etc stopped showing up on the user side of the site.

I tried Update Module to get it to work.

Nothing worked so I was busy moving the sub>sub categories back into the sub categories (restaurant recipes).

Then I noticed that the commands 'Read permissions' (both were checked) and 'Articles submission permissions' (Registered Users was checked) suddenly were blank.

I started checking them again, while I was moving the subdirectories back.

Suddenly, ALL MY ARTICLES DISAPPEARED!!!! Every article I've published in ALL categories are gone

10 Months work, and over 9,200 articles.

I checked my MySQL database and it's empty.

I have been cut n pasting my old html site into smartsection, as well as doing daily updates. As a result of this, not only have I lost the past 10 months of cut n paste efforts, but I did not keep the old html pages. So in efect, I have lost 10 years work.

What the HELL happened??????

I was told I had to put this coding in my css

table {border: none; width: 100%; font-size: 11px; }
table td { padding: 0; border: none; border-bottom: solid grey 1px; vertical-align: top; border-collapse: collapse}

With the instructions to change border:none to whatever I wanted.

But I don't know where to put it. I tried some experimenting but that only screwed up my site

I know what the problem is, it's not showing table cell borders.

I know the fix. Someone here told me how to do it.

But I DON'T know where to put the commands.

Can someone please help me with this. I can email you, PM you or attach the css and the changes here, that need to be made.

Thanks
Frank

For some reason, Smartsection has stopped updating the summary pages on the users side.

The articles appear when searched, and appear in the recent article list, but not on the summary pages. The counts are wrong and the last article posted name are all wrong on the summary pages.

Anyone else run into this problem?

Anyone got a fix for it?

Thanks
Frank

Do you configure the cache as on or off?

After reading another thread I checked my mainfile.php

It's a little confusing. Install says the default for persistent connections is no.

But mainfile.php says yes for default.

// Use persistent connection? (Yes=1 No=0)
// Default is 'Yes'. Choose 'Yes' if you are unsure.
define('XOOPS_DB_PCONNECT', 0);

As you can see, mine is set to no. So I don't see why I'm suddenly having these persistent connection problems. Is there somewhere else I should be checking besides mainfile.php?

XOOPS Template Set:

PHP Version:
4.4.4

MySQL Version:

I don't believe I set it for persistent connections when I installed. ot knowing what it was, I would have left it at the default. NOw I'm trying to find out how to turn the persistent connections off. I'm not finding anything in the admin back end though.

I have been having a problem the last few weeks with my site going down. My host says it's a problem with XOOPS coding relating to the MySQL database. Here's a quote of their last email.

Hi Frank,

The issue is because you are exceeding the maximum number of MySQL user connections to the database server. Please see the readings from the server which I took just now :

============

As you can see, there as about 20 open connections. Every time the database connect code gets executed, the session is being created and is being left behind. You need to check your code to make sure that all database sessions are closed and / or disable persistent connections.

We had to tweak the server configuration as a result of too may connections being left open on the server creating load and memory issues and thereby affecting the server performance as a whole. Hence we cannot let uses open infinite connections any more. It is true that persistent connections eliminate the overheads during creation of new connections. But, MySQL takes relatively short time for creating new connections and often the benefit of using persistent connections is not noticeable. Also, considering the drawbacks of using persistent connections its advantages are negligible. It usually comes to use over slow internet connections and when using quick queries.

You can find more information about this at:
http://www.mysql.com/news-and-events/newsletter/2002-11/a0000000086.html

I have refreshed the sql server connections for now.

Thank you.

I have the latest version but I'm having 2 problems.

First, all the text on the sign page is in french, even though I have english version.

Second, when you try to sign the guestbook, you get a blank page. It doesn't do anything or go anywhere. It just disappears, and the posts are not showing up in the module.

Any ideas?

Thanks
Frank
