Do you recall which search terms you entered?

I'm attempting to port phpBB's visual confirmation (during registration) functionality over to XOOPS as per this thread. Part of the code entails knowing the current user's session ID.

Why do you ask?

The "search" block you see in the upper-righthand corner of the site... It's your friend. When I searched for "notifications", the 5th link in the forums it showed was this one. It answers your question.

No, changing the name of "Anonymous" would only alter how it's displayed on the Who's Online block. It always shows "Members" and then whatever you have set to show for "Anonymous" users.

I wouldn't be surprised if what thepod wrote is correct. The modules from Koudanshi (www.bbpixel.com), while good, take undue liberties with your core installation.

AFAIK, if you change the name of a module's directory, you also have to go into that module's xoops_version.php file and alter the $modversion['dirname'] line to reflect the change. They have to be set exactly the same.

i.e.

.\modules\newdirname

[xoops_version.php]
$modversion['dirname'] = 'newdirname';

As Dave said though, if all you want to change is the way it's displayed on the menu, you can just alter the name through the admin modules screen.

Your "Who's Online" block must be different than any of the three I'm using.

Which version of XOOPS are you running? Are you talking about the default "Who's Online" block that comes with Xoops?

The default block that comes with XOOPS 2.0.6 only shows guests and members.

Now don't make me go and discover this myself...

What is the code needed to get the current user's session ID?

It comes as part of the default distribution, in the "contrib" directory.

I'm currently seeing if I can successfully port it over to Xoops. If I am successful, I'll get in contact with the peeps at phpBB and see if they'll allow me to redistribute it.

In phpBB's register screen they have the following text before the authentication graphics:

Quote:
If you are visually impaired or cannot otherwise read this code please contact the Administrator for help.

Further, in the documentation that indicates how to enable/install this mod for phpBB it says:

Quote:
To get the best from this Mod you should be running PHP4 and have the zlib module installed and loaded. It is quite common for zlib to be installed by default. If you are unsure whether it is please check with your hosting provider or review the output of phpinfo();. This Mod does not require GD, Imagemagick, NetPBM or any other module or utility. If you do not have zlib available the Mod will fall-back to a simpler output method. However this will still deter the majority of would be trouble makers.

I think doing something very similar would be one of the best ways to proceed.
