Now the site is working!

I changed the Database Hostname in mainfile.php from localhost to the ip address and (i think) that did it.

If anyone can explain to me why that did it it would be really helpful.

One thing remains however, I still can't use phpMyAdmin - it gives me "Access Denied". I've updated the user/password and so on but it still doesn't work. Does anyone know what the problem might be?

Hi there

Big problem and I am really lost. I just swictched to a dedicated server and can't connect to the database:

Going to the website gives 'db connection failed.'

If i try to connect to the database using phpMyAdmin i get 'Access Denied'.

I've checked and re-checked the username and password given to me by the web server host and I've got them correct on mainfile.php (and config.inc.php for phpmyadmin)

I'm guessing its to do with being on a dedicated server rather than shared host. It should be a managed server and the server host said they would transfer all files and set everything up but am i missing something?

I've found the answer

I must have searched a dozen times for this but after making today's post the phrase 'auto-complete' came to mind so i searched for that instead of 'suggestive search' and there it was..

smart2 has done a great hack of isearch to do exactly this - many thanks smart2, its really appreciated!!!

Bump! Does anyone know of any way to do this?

Is there any module that can record all searches made and then use that record to give users search suggestions?

I know isearch can do the first part but don't think it can do the second

So if searches have been made for 'bananas', 'bandages' and 'bank', when another user types in 'ban' they will get the 3 suggestions but when they've typed 'band' they will only have bandages as a suggestion.

Is there any way to do this?

I've uploaded the articles module and tried to figure out how to get the suggestive search but can't see how to get it working.

Can you tell me how I can enable it?

Is there somewhere I can input a list of terms that I want to be used for the suggestive search?

Smartsection how can I change so User edits aren't auto-approved

Hi there,

In smartsection, if a user has written an article they can edit the article (along with Admin) but I need to change things so that editing by users is not automatically approved (needs to be approved by Admin before changes take effect)

Can anyone help me on this?? I'm lost

Although the Preferences on the module allow you to easily select auto-approve for User submissions, it doesn't give the same choice for when a user edits an article.

I've been looking at it for some time but can't make it happen

Hi John

No blocks added recently all this problem has gone on for a while now.

Sometimes I just get page could not open but sometimes I get "db connection failed"

I've seen this happen on XOOPS a few times,I guessed it was down to volume of traffic but that is unlikely to be the problem with my site

PS: I don't have gzip compression enabled because it messes up my site when i turn it on - could this be causing the problem?
