Never realised that, you can't just select system module for blocks admin or at least in 2.0.16 (I not tried .17)

It's been a while since I tested 2.2 X, I'm sure it's possible in there though, if so I'm sure that option will be supported in future X versions.

<EDIT>

If you want them for your account/profile section, you could always consider a profile module, that would work.
Kind Regards.

Was thinking about modules and did a quick search finding the following:

Not sure how well these will work for you though, or how buggy they maybe?

Camportail 1.1

WebCam Module - Also located athttp://www.bassmanthemes.com

You could perhaps stream it through the webshow module.

You could also consider the 123FlashChat Server, they also have an XOOPS modulised version (At cost)

I believe you would need a flash server though for the 123flashchat to stream video.

You could also consider using something like the NVS Shoutcast server, it's free software and would need to be installed as a service on a server. (Viewers would watch via Winamp, I have heard of website implementations too, but not sure of what would be required).

This could become very costly if your wanting a true live stream and depending on the amount of viewers your anticipating tied in with the quality of video and audio you wish to offer.

There are other methods I know of which are very cheap but lack in quality. You may also wish to look up progressive streaming within Google.

I'd personally consider going through a flash server, there are many companies out there offering video solutions (123FC was only the first to mind as it's integrated into XOOPS, but this is a chat/video solution.

I'd love to see what you come up with in the end and how you achieved it, if you could please keep us in the picture.

{EDIT}

You may also be limited by your DSL connection depending on it's speed, and should check with your service provider, if it's a residential connection they may disconnect your for using large or irregular volumes of bandwidth.
Kind Regards.

Could you not consider an RSS feed?

The feed for news can be located at www.yoursite.com/backend.php

Many other modules also support RSS.

This would in my eyes be the easiest without hacking anything.

Does it have to be XOOPS?

ZenCart? -http://www.zencart.com/
OSCommerce? -http://www.oscommerce.com/

And some other good options out there.

Both of those Carts/Catalogues are also available in module form for XOOPS, although the last time I tested them, they were rather buggy and insecure, if you not using the payment options or storing information covered under the data protection act, then you should be fine.

You also have the option of bookshop or myshop (I think) which are commercial modules sold by Hervé from Instant Zero.

http://www.instant-zero.com/

If your only seeking a catalogue module, which to me is just a way to show products without buy options, then why not consider a content module like SmartSections from Smart Factory -http://smartfactory.ca/

Hope this maybe of some help.
Kind Regards.

Well many names can be given , and I think this discussion is healthy. In facebok they use wall for the scrapbook feature, in orkut as Damaster pointed it well they call it scrapbook. I still don t have a defined idea on the subject . What do you think guys? PLease do post your comments and arguments, I 'll take everything under consideration.

Could you not just make this field dynamic and allow the admin/webmaster to choose it themselves?

(I know it would be easy enough for them to edit the lang file)
Kind Regards.

I'm still not sure I'm understanding you in all honesty.

There are many content modules two of which are SmartSections by SmartFactoryhttp://smartfactory.ca/

&

News module by InstantZero -http://xoops.instant-zero.com/

There are some other good ones out there too.
Kind Regards.

Iframe = easy but not very web friendly.

I've read so many mixed opinions on this from various experts some pro some against.

what's your take on it being used within websites, I know you said you use it, so I'm presuming you don't see it as an all together bad thing.

Thanks for considering my tight fisted nature Tom.

That's not a problem. Are you from the UK or know anything of the UK?

I ask because I'm a Yorkshireman, their renowned for being tight fisted, I also have Scottish blood too, and it's a world wide saying (some would say fact) that Scotsmen are tight, although many of the Scott's these days would lead believe that's only a myth, ask Catz he a Scotsman. lol

So yeah don't worry about being tight, I am too
Kind Regards.

Sorry just read your question again, I think I didn't understand you the first time.

Your not asking for a URL moved module are you?

Your asking for a module that would organise your site in urls like you specified?

If so then you could probably consider some kind of URL rewrite, not sure of the technicalities though sorry.
Kind Regards.
