woah! this is almost chat like..

using the patch.

using an ftp client,
I simply uploaded the files from the patch....
pretty sure the mainfile.php was untouched.
result as I said above.

****
currently redoing things.
have wiped all out,
started afresh, new 2.0.7 installation.
all works well.
am again transferring the patch files, about 10 mins to go.

will let you know.

what sort of error is it? can you tell that it is database-ish or php-ish from the messages?

off topic I know but I LOOOVE xoops...and you guys are great.
thanks.

OK most likely this is my fault, for that I apologise in advance.

I also apart from having a great site want to be able to know a bit more though about what kinds of things go wrong so I thought this would be one of no doubt many such opportunities.....

Had a vanilla install of 2.0.7 no problem.
In trying to upgrade to 2.0.9 beta, I copied the files over and now...the home page gives me this.

Warning: Unknown(/mypathhere/xoops/index.php): failed to open stream: Permission denied in Unknown on line 0

Warning: (null)(): Failed opening '/another path here/xoops/index.php' for inclusion (include_path='.:/usr/lib/php:/usr/local/lib/php') in Unknown on line 0

So, I will try again and be very careful but ...what kind of error do I have here??

Much obliged.

BTW this is our testing server...

Is there a kwik and dirty way to transfer posts and related info for a very small amount of data.
The table of posts only contains around 40kb. I want to switch now before it becomes a huge pain...

from ipb, out to newbb2

all help welcomed..

Sorry to be vague...

1.Xoops 2.0.7

2. no change to the groups themselves.
I had these settings to both notify and send activation mail to one particular group 'area supervisors'. This was working fine. I then went to change the above settings so that this same group were still sent notification but the activation email would be sent only to webmasters. After submitting that change, I arrived at the current, above situation.

3.it does indeed say 'admin'

I can verify though, that if I register, it sends an email to my account rather than what it used to do, which is send an email to the webmaster with a link to activate....

Any ideas?

On the system admin>preferences>User Info Settings

there is a menu to choose how you would like to set activation for new users. (8th selection down)

There are three options

Requires activation by user (recommended).
Activate automatically.
Activation by administrators

I used to have this set to the third option, then I made a change to the groups I wish to notify and now it will not stick to this third option.
I can choose either of the first two but I can no longer get it to accept the Activiation by administrators option.

Any ideas?
Thanks.

or any form for that matter i guess..

I would like to change the form that is presented to the user when they register.
Not just looks, but actual field content.
I guess this could be quite advanced but if there are any good links out there....pleeeeez.
TIA
