Hi Bassman!
If you register to dev.xoops.org I add you to WebmailFX developers.
Bye!

Of course I'm not going to push anybody to do what he dislike... If somebody would like to work on such a feature and it'll work: welcome!
But, to my mind, it would be better to focus on some more "core" functions like:
-support for multiple SMTP;
-support for IMAP 4 protocol.
Take care,
ft
P.S:
"Sorry if I contributed to any confusion, Flyingtux."
There's absolutely no problem, bbgds... I just got confused and I asked to claryfy just because I wanted to understand the problem!

Guys, I'm getting confused.
What are we talkin' about?
ProjectZen or WebMailFX?
Could you please clarify this?
And, perhaps, could we split the thread into two different?
Otherwise I (and perhaps others) couldn't get any sense in this...
Cheers,
ft

Is that the same error you got Kaotik?

Also, I noticed that when you go into the admin menu to make chages, it will go through the normal process, but none of the changes will actually take. You get the "Database Updated" screen, but when you re-access the admin menu, you get the default settings.[/quote]

Hello All!
Concerning Bassman:
I yesterday switched off my site and ran, for testing WebMailFX and the whole website in php debug mode. I didn't get any php warning. Are you using the last, code cleaned, version (0.82)? Just uninstall the old one, install this and let us know!
BTW: send me your e-mail adddress, I'll include you in the php file notice.
Other stuff:
-the file is now also among downloads in xoops.org: cool!
-kaotik: any further development? Do you have a 0.83 (testing as we sayd) to download and test?
Have you looked at the new notice in all php, with license, credits and so on? What do you think?
Cheers,
ft

I would like to clarify a point: there's nothing, im my mind, against what mithrandir stated. I'm personally the first one which got a bit afraid of being unable to mantain a package and to develop it... But, after starting, I found some people which I know consider as friends: they looked at the code, we exchanged feedback, we got this little (very useful to us, I believe) module working, we now give a call to the community to help, to share their ideas with us...
A call which could be view from 2 different points:
-on the one hand, we'd like people to help with their knowledge, improving this little project and any other collaborative project over there;
-on the other hand, we'd like to give back to the community what we firstly took from this community: the original module was not so far from working, but it appeared (and still appears) to be unmantained and I believe it would have been a pity to waste such a piece of code; moreover, how about the satisfaction of helping the mass of XOOPS users, non-programmers, which were asking for such a module and just wanted to enjoy it?
Perhaps I wrote to much, but I'd like to close by saying that I absolutely agree with kaotik when he says:
Quote:

The point (I would assume) was to bring XOOPS to the masses, and, if possible, have them directly colaborate on the development of Xoops, be it in the core or modules, independent from any PHP C0derz status, it's the effort that counts...

This is exactly the point.
Have all a good time!
Yours,
ft
P.S: i just finished updating all php files with a license note, credits, "last modified on.. by..." box, etc... I Updated this last one on the server. I hipe this helps to track changes

Well: I just finished opening a new project, but according to Mithrandir, perhaps I did a wrong thing... We'll see, administrators have 72 hours to approve/discard as said in the registration form.
As I said in the previous post, I'm not a real programmer and there are millions of people who are better than me. but, if the effort I did till now for getting this thing working will be appreciated and used, I'll be happy.
Please feel free to tell me (everybody) what you think about this thing.
Bye,
ft

I absolutely agree with you, but, as long as I really believe you are absolutely better than me in PHP coding an debugging, I suggest the following:
-I open a project on de.xoops.org;
-I put myself as "starter" of the project and mantainer of the files, packages, etc;
-I'll put Bassman as fellow developer;
I actually do not know how "project roles" are defined over there... I'll have a look and let you know...
By now, if you agree on that, I ask you to give me some more details about you, at least an email address to put it in the project... Then, tell me what your developing plans are for the next 24 hours: if you plan to don't release any new feature, I'll go through what I anticipate this morning: cleaning all license stuff, docs and so on...
Take all good care,
ft

Is this addressed to WebmailFX or to ProjectZen based Bassman's one?
Do you think we should open a project on dev.xoops.org for WebMailFX?

That sounds perfect.
So, tonight I'll do:
-some more testing on the actual stable version, especially on charachters;
-inverting the actual numbering and moving the stable to 0.82 and the testing (if you post me a package or a link it would be perfect) to 0.83;
-arranging two separate downloads.
I'd like also to:
-cleaning up the infos on the source code, like "based on...", licenses, etc;
-adding some more infos about you guys, at least one emal address;
-adding a "last modified on ... by..." on each file (which i would like you to update when you make changes, so that we could better track the mantainance of the package);
-optimizing other infos like changelog, etc... (there also i'd like you to write down the changes you made).
Looking forward to test your package,
ft

I absolutely agree, also because I see that your past job has been simply great...
I tought about multiple smtp cause yesterday, for instance, I replied to a mailing list message from inside the webmail and the message has been rejected... OF COURSE!!! I'm registered with a @email.it domain and was annswering for a @trashnight.org one...
I noticed a thing which needs to be studied: sometimes, when I get a message, I couldn't read it well, because of some strange characters, i.e. E=8 instead of E' and so on... is that happening to you also? is that related to a charachter set? ISO something?
Answering Bassman...
The download location has been since the beginning and will always be the following:

http://lnx.trashnight.org/modules/mydownloads/viewcat.php?cid=3

Every time we fix something, I simply Upload the newest version and upgrade description, size, etc...
Concerning versioning, I just thought that perhaps we could move to a "linux kernel like" numbering version system, so that we'll have:
-stable version: last number is even, i.e. 0.82
-testing version: last number is odd, i.e. 0.83
What about that?
It will perhpas facilitate the development on the one hand, and push people using the module and giving feedback on the other one... But it that will get us confused, just skip the idea...
If you agree I could create a double download section in my site...
Greetings,
ft
