At sourceforge there are loads of downloads, but there I could not find one for the old XOOPS 2.0.18.1 version.

Now with your link I finally found it.
Thanks a lot.
Yesterday I only found the links to upgrade from 2.0.18.1 to 2.0.18.2

At sourceforge its easy to lose the overview of whats there, because the page is like a labyrinth, a maze.

Is your XOOPS_ROOT_PATH and XOOPS_URL in mainfile.php correct?
I have checked that already, although it should not be necessary for the installation since the mainfile's content with all definitions will be created during the installation.
So, no absolute links necessary, but just for completion, I have already tried yesterday to make those definitions by hand, but no success.

I have launched a help request to hosting company.

So, any thoughts why that could be?
is there a mod for that, so that people can select text and then the code is automatically put in when pressing the xoopscode button?

Kakos,
I dont know why it works for you.

When I try to select two times the same colour here in this forum by selecting a text and then picking the colour, then it doesnt work for me here in firefox. I havent tried it with IE, yet.

So, the only way around for me is copy the colour tag and paste it at a different location.

just selecting a text, and then pressing the colour
selecting a new text and pressing the same colour doesnt work for me.

HI,
when I use the colour picker here in this forum's text editor and put a 'colour' tag around a text
and later I want to use the same colour for a different text, then it doesnt go in.
I think thats a bug.

Hello,
when I use this editor to write a message I can select a text, press a xoopscode button and the selected text is automatically surrounded by the xoopscode.

Just now I was on Ohwadas forum (webphoto module), but there it is not possible, there the selected text is not surrounded by the xoopscode and I have to use the ADD button to get the text in.
The same for my site.

What is the difference here?

Why can I select a text on this site and then the code is automatically added and everywhere else that doesnt work?

Since I have failed to install XOOPS 2.0.18.2 direct from the download, my php is working and the mySQL is working fine, I would like to try XOOPS 2.0.18.1 to see if that gives the same problems.

Please:
Where can I find a download for that?

I have tried the php, that works fine, otherwise the forum would not work, either.
Now I have to see if I can find a XOOPS 2.0.18.1 version and try that one.

You should put the folder you find in HTML/modules/ into your modules directory.
Then You have to enter cpanel, file manager...or ftp site access and create a new folder at the place where you can see the public_html folder. Into that goes the modules folder from your xoops_trust_path.
later you still have to edit that PHP file and define what xoops_trust_path means.

I think for normal people who just like to have their website installing that kind of module is incredibly complicated....too complicated.

if not, the files from htdocs should be there
/home/USER_NAME/public_html/index.php

No, they could also be in a sub directory.
I have installed XOOPS onto another site using cpanel Fantastico. There I have used a ../../public_html/portal/index.php
That works fine.

Did you make a copy of an installed site? Then there are the same tasks to perform as for a local copy.
No, I have downloaded a fresh version using a link on this site, the link you describe.
I have downloaded the file: xoops-2.0.18.2.zip
Now I download the xoops-2.0.18.2.tar.gz file to see if that works better.

If not then I have to install XOOPS 2.0.18.1 from Fantastico and download the upgrade package here.
