Sorry, I have been...I've switched the "forum options" settings to include most of the various Editors and nothing seems to change on the actual forum. I always get the same editing tools, whether it's an existing post or a new post. Default seems to be DHTML and Compact, I've either kept or cleared those in combo with Kovivi Editor and TinyMCE, and there is no visible change on the forum. So, it's confusing. Despite all of the times I've changed those settings, nothing is visibly different, editing tools are exactly as I see them while posting here on xoops.org

the dominant dev of XOOPS doesn't? That's a bummer, not good for short or long term.

Thanks for all of your help with this...one item, I've looked at the image manager many times, but when I click it, I just get a empty drop down list, and a button that does nothing (neither have a label). Is that normal or...well I'll hunt around in the forum config area, maybe those are disabled or something.

If you're feeling generous/all knowing <g> I have a post here about short urls that hasn't had any input, same forum...thanks

Well, I installed the current cbb and I don't see that it handles anything that was in my request list.

A poster cannot open a dialog that allows them to put an image from their hdd into the posting.

The textarea on the posting form is not wysiwyg. I still have to use the dinky little text field near "Add" to be able to mark up the text.

So back to square one, is there a forum for XOOPS that will do what I need?

Thanks

No kidding...I thought probably these newer releases were fairly stable. Glad I asked, thanks!

My webhost's fantastico offers 2.0.10; the latest is 2.2.1. I'd think 2.2.1 would be better but I've actually had issues with 2.2.1 on a local test install. Is 2.2.1 "safer" than 2.0.10? Probably a dumb question but new to this, can't assume anything.

Thanks

Referrer-checking error with 2.2 .1installation

I had a prior ver of XOOPS running fine. 2.2.1 gives me "Referrer-checking" errors most of the time. Err message starts with

"Why am I being redirected here?

XOOPS Site site security has detected that your computer has a firewall setting that is preventing you from registering on the site. We use 'Referrer-checking' know as HTTP_REFERER which makes sure that all contents posted are from authorised users only. Your firewall settings are blocking this information, so this will prevent you from registering properly if you try and proceed."

I was using IE with the google toolbar popup blocker, but I've turned that off for now, no help. I have Zone Alarm, the most recent free version, and it does not seem to have the Privacy/Cookies area that the err msg refers to.

So I'm stuck. Kind of a strange error to get, I've never seen the like with any cms, is it worth it?

Thanks

I see, and I have XOOPS from just before 2.2 was released.

cbb is as good a forum as I can get for xoops, that has the stuff I listed in the orig post? Just fishing for experienced impressions. What would be an alternate?

Thanks

Oh, and last night I found the control points for adjusting how comments in the forum are shown (flat or threaded etc) in the XOOPS faq.

ShortURL support, built in? What are the options?

I'm not sure where I got the impression that some sort of short url support was built in to XOOPS but I guess I was wrong? I've seen a module or two mentioned, and wondered if I could get the lowdown on how good they are and so forth.

Xaraya can work with short url's that are like

http://www.somesite.com/xar/index.php/articles/news/c9/

I really prefer the use of "/" to the use of "-", which was shown more commonly in examples of short url mods here. Is there a way for me to use "/"...I'm not going want to start redoing a lot of php this early on, I rarely use it.

Thanks

Thanks WarDick

Couple of questions.

- inside the cbb zip is...newbb. Why isn't the acutal module called cbb?

- I think I read newbb is a fork of phpbb, is that true? And if so, if this "just" newbb that was developed for use by whatever cms its put into, or was newbb dev'd specially for xoops?

- I've not installed it because I see that there is already a newbb module in the defualt install (I've already installed the forum that comes with xoops). So, is this just an upgrade? Can I just kill the existing folder? I just kicked the tires there, no real work would be lost.

- I noticed that Preditor was one of the two listed devs. I think he's doing mambo now, and that has stalled at least one of the major ecommerce projects here. Is cbb still actively maintianed or is it also drifting?

Never figured out why Preditor left, alto I've seen it mentioned several times...more $ oppty with Mambo? Or was there some sort of falling out?

Thanks
