I have nice little link to you...thx to Delorie

Web Page Backward Compatibility Viewer

Make a file callede delorie.htm drop it in to your apache doc root where your website is located.

Then use this link to check if the site is online from the outside of your router.....

-------------------------------------------------------
The host file is the internal problem .

The host file is located at:

/windows/system32/drivers/etc on Xp
and
/winnt/system32/drivers/etc on 2K

You can edit it with Notepad or something.

But doing that will only redirect inside your network.

---------------------------------------------------------
The external problem is directing your ISP IP on to the server.

If you have some network hardware in front of the server, for example a router or a cablegateway, you have to configure the virtual server on this device so it points your ISP IP at your internal server ip.

If your server is hooked up to the internet without any network hardware in front, then you should be able to install XOOPS with the virtual path beeinghttp://yourip and it should run.

Hi

I'm very new at XOOPS so i don't have much understanding of the program, so i i'll drop at stupid question here..

I just wondered if you have a site like for example this, does the database not get very big. Well i guess it does..so on to the stupid question....

Is it possible to run several databases like:

1. Database reserved to system
2. Databse reserved to forum

and so forth....

I don't need to do so...i'm just a bit curious

Any got any links to understand how XOOPS works, i sure would like them

Grizzly..

Can't quite help you if don't supply the following information:

1. What server do u use
2. What version of Apache are u using
3. What version of Php are u using
4. What version of MySQL are u using

Hint allways check apache logs..

There are three things u have to consider...

1. Is the webserver correct configured.
2. Is virtual server enabled in your gateway
3. You have to install XOOPS with the correct paths

And last but not least...

Fix the host file on your machines. Doing that will make sure when u are using your internet ip address, behind the gateway u can see XOOPS ...and XOOPS will run correct.

---- Host file ----

192.168.0.20    localhost
192.168.0.20    domain
.com
192.168.0.20    www
.domain.com

---- XOOPS Paths ----

Virtuel path would be something like

http
://Your Internet IP

IE and Firefox doesn't allways display the page in the same way.

I looked at your tags on the site and got this...

<body>
<
div id="page-ml">
    <
div id="page-mr">

    <
div id="header-l"><div id="header-r">
      <
div class="description">
            <
a href="http://www.butlerpcg.org"><img src="http://www.butlerpcg.org/themes/pyro/images/header_logo.jpg" alt="" /></a>
      </
div>
      <
div id="navigbar">

So the funky bar can only come from the css on:
1. id="page-ml" or
2. id="page-mr" or
3. id="header-1"

try changing the color codes in the css... to check it out

Just a little question.

Are you running your own dedicated win server ??

My bad i really start reading the whole thread

...

Well i had some problems when i installede XOOPS on a win server...

Note. PHP 5.0 and higher don't bundle MySQL anymore you have to move som files on your own... maybe that's the problem

In then WinNT/System32/ you should place a copy of libmysql.dll

Then it worked just fine for me
