I havn't used the module myself, but I've deactivated these features in other modules; usually it's as easy as finding the right template file (assuming it has a template) and taking out the snippet that says something like "new"... if you know html and tags you should be able to find it.

Of course, you need to have your own template set (other than default) in order to edit your templates; and make sure that set is selected as your primary set. If you want to do more than this please specify.

Cheers,
Keith

There is no built-in feature (that I know of) that will fulfil this function. The "top page" is essentially the "top module(/index.php)"... which is why on this site there's always the same block at the top of news listings (or at least index.php).

So; unless there's some feature I don't know of; your only option is to hack the news module such that "if cgi-params != '' then no-blocks"... but that sounds like a very involved solution.

Another solution would be to use one of the news blocks (or Spotlight) in order to present your new news stuff on a blank top-page.

Anyways, in any case, good luck on the site,

Keith

Thank you all for responses; though I'm sorry to waste your time on this PR post, I know for myself that your explaination is enough to ensure me that there is both active and wise action taking place - action that is worth shutting my mouth and patiently wait for .

As always, many thanks for your care - both to the core team and community.

Cheers,
Keith

<EDITED>

Sorry for the misunderstanding, yes, this is a yellow-pages module... but it appears that the guide module is built on top of it...

For instance, see:

http://www.folsomliving.com/modules/xdirectory/viewcat.php?cid=45
http://www.folsomliving.com/modules/guide/viewcat.php?cid=45

They're definetely using the same db tables, almost precisely the same template, and (again) almost precisely the same php.

In other words, this looks like a specialized hack to the xdirectory module.

Cheers,
Keith

Thank you for that info - it is certainly good to know.

For those making decisions (or not as the case may be) on the release; please understand that the current lack of community-involved, centrally coordinated development initiatives has already cost the community opportunities for growth.

I don't say this to slam the core team efforts (indeed, I applaud you all for your commitment, effort, and dilligence), rather to highlight that even having a simple site designed around mod/theme dev was better than having nothing at all.

So again, looking forward to the release,

Thanks,
Keith

I thought when it went down late last year that it'd be back up soon, but this is getting rather silly ~ no clear news (like a notice beside the home-page link) or anything.

Anyways; if the only issue is a willing server I might be able to help, but the current stagnation concerns me both for the sake of my own business and the XOOPS community.

Look forward to and update,

Keith

All I can say is "winmerge"...

http://winmerge.sourceforge.net/

It's simple, it lets you catch your unique changes, and it's free... I couldn't have upgraded to 2.0.5 without it (I'm not sure, but it might have been Mithrandir who recommended it to me in the first place!)

Cheers,
Keith

FYI, I've tried a few calendar modules, but I just installed piCal and am very pleased with it (make sure you get the most recent version from their website).

As for clock; your best bet is to find a stand-alone clock and add it wherever you want on your page (either block or inside a page template). I recommend a flash one for the sake of performance and style (javascript is just clunky).

Cheers,
Keith
