I had the same problem awhile back it sounds like its the database or something in your XOOPS control panel.

Try logging in with your virus software off! virus software can interfier with your database.. even when i post messages here at xoops.org i have to have my virus systems off for it wont let the XOOPS database load !

I say don't mess with a good thing!
Xoops Newb forum is good enough .. i certaintly wont be changing to some other half cocked module! im sticking with the one i have.. some people this is where they go wrong fiddling with a good thing UHUHUH
