hello,

How do users rate a review ?

Stewart

Hi st3wart, there is currently no rating on reviews in this forum that I know of, but everyone is able to comment on the reviews.

Is the "modify a review" link supposed to be active at this point? Cause right now it just goes to a blank page.

I made some changes to the modify a review code that will be available in Beta8, I hope this will solve the problem.

There are also some additions and enhancements I have done with the thumbnail creation and quality, as well as the recreation of thumbnails. Also when you delete a review the image and thumb for that review will now also be deleted. I have added thumbs to the blocks with a config to turn it on and off. All this will be available in Beta8.

okay running v7 of the beta and I get the following errors via the XOOPS PHP debugger whenever I add a new review and if I approve a submitted review:

Notice [PHP]: Undefined variable: version in file modules/myReviews/admin/index.php line 1159

Notice [PHP]: Undefined variable: platfrom in file modules/myReviews/admin/index.php line 1159

Notice [PHP]: Undefined variable: price in file modules/myReviews/admin/index.php line 1159

Notice [PHP]: Undefined variable: excerpt in file modules/myReviews/admin/index.php line 1165

sorry it took me so long to get around to actually testing the new version, my personal life has been kinda crazy lately.

You know, it'd be great it the admin had an image upload feature too.

I will look into these notices and sort them in the next release.

and i solved the hall of fame problem today :)

Will you send me your changes so I can incorporate into the module for the rest of the guys

there seems to be a few bugs regarding the other blocks, like recommend it takes you to the bottom 10 ranked users etc.. but they shouldn't be that difficult to sort out really.

I will have a look at this.

i've cured the detailfile.html error too on my server..
although i can't work out what it's actually used for.. seems to be for the comments system, but i can't work out where the hell it's activated.. i turned it on in modfile.php but still can't make comments..

but it's finally getting there :)

The comments are not yet implemented, it involves full smarty integration for the pages you want to use comments on, this will probably be last on my list.

Thanks guys, I wanted to stabilize before I start adding new stuff to the module, it is almost usable now
I will look into the small things you pointed out and then start with the next release.

The love it link adds a pic to the review and is then available in the love at first sight blck.

Hi All, I have released Beta7 of myReviews. No new features just bug fixes. You will be able to download at dev.xoops.org or www.craftsonline.co.za

I don't get any debug info from XOOPS when I click on the Hall of Fame link. Just an empty content frame. My normal blocks and everything are there just nothing where the myReviews content should be...wierd.

Other than that it's rock solid as much as I can see.

Hi Tocpe,

The hall of Fame uses core member functions, and Mithrandir has pointed me to the possible problem, haven't had a chance to look at it. Hectic at work will try and sort it before the next release.
I am glad the module is acting stable, it is alway difficult to sort every bug on different platforms that I am not able to simmulate. Hopefully the module will prove usefull to the XOOPS community.

any news on the upload bug yet?

i've removed the standard image name form bit from the file so it only shows the upload and browse part..

i was thinkin it maybe to do with strpslashes as i can't see that command in the code, but i'm not a coder so i can't really comment on exactly what the fault is.

It is definately a strpslashes problem (I only found out about it this weekend) I will sort the problem for the new Beta. (I don't have a timeline yet, but will probably post the code on my site to fix the problem in this week.

my partner has said, since we have now recruited a team of reviewers, would it be possible to have an admin option to disable certain groups from submitting, and if those groups aren't given permission then hide the submit link in the menu?

I will add this as a feature request (good idea)

A module is GNU/GPL licensed because it is a part of a GNU/GPL system - without which it cannot work.

This is a common misconception. Not all projects built under php or MySQL is GNU/GPL, without witch it cannot work. If the module was developed from scratch and contains no code or code snippets of modules or components that is GPL licenced you may change from GPL to other type of licence, but if you ship it with the GPL project it must be GPL licenced.

The long and short: Your module must be able to exist without relying on a supporting GPL licenced product, if you do not want to ship it as GPL.

According to my knowledge, no opensource licence has been tested in an international court of law.

Got another possible bug. When you move a review from one category to another it's rating category description doesn't seem to carry over.

This is definately not a bug The rating categories is assigned to the category and not to the individual rating item. Moving the listings between categories is not advised at this stage. I will have to write some code that will transfer the ratings between categories. The problem is moving a listing between categories with totally different rating criteria that has already been assigned. I don't know if this makes sence?

For example, (and to do this properly I need 1 more level of "the rabbit hole" )

I will dig a bit deeper!
Quote:

I have an theme park attraction listed. And it has a whole bunch of reviews and ratings associated with it. Things like, "repeatability", "scare factor" etc. These have all had ratings registered with them. I also have a sub category under the attractions for retired attractions. It only contains a rating category of "classic factor".

When an attraction is retired, I'd like to move it into the retired subcategory and have all of it's previous rating categories carry over and the new one "classic factor" added to the rating categories.

Now as it stands it looks like the ratings themselves carry over, but the names of the older rating categories don't seem to show up. Any ideas?

I know of an easy work-around for this particular situation is to simple add "(Retired)" to the description. But that still diesn't solve the problem of being able to move ratings around, and also only having some of the rating categories showing up in certain categories.

hmmmm.... looks like this mighht be tricky.

As you said tricky tricky tricky.. Will analyze it a bit and come up with a solution.
