Installer not creating enough tables, not getting to admin info

I have followed the instructions from skenow on starting a new XOOPS site to the letter with great success except I have a recurring problem with the installer not creating enough tables or giving me a blank page where there should be the final screen to set the admin name and password.

I took the suggestion and am using XAMPP to install locally on a removable drive.

MySQL client version: 5.0.45
phpMyAdmin - 2.11.1
XOOPS 2.0.17.1
XAMPP Control Panel version 2.5

I get 19 tables, then 12 tables, then no tables at all.

I have tried creating the database in advance and having the installer create it.

Could the problem be the use of a removable USB drive?

Suggestions from anywhere welcome.

Thanks for the reply.

I had read that information but it isn't what I am looking for. I want the Referrer Checking on. I just logged into my site and receive this message:

Why am I being redirected here?

O.A.L.E.P. site security has detected that your computer has a firewall setting that is preventing you from registering on the site. We use 'Referrer-checking' know as HTTP_REFERER which makes sure that all contents posted are from authorised users only. Your firewall settings are blocking this information, so this will prevent .... and so on.

I am trying to figure out where this text is actually stored so I can change it. What I am finding is that despite this message being displayed, I can continue to whatever area of the site I want to and everything is fine.

I just want to alter the text to tell my users to ignore the message and carry on. That may not be the way it is supposed to work, but it is working just fine.

So the question remains, Where does the text for that message come from.

HTTP_Referer error message - where is it?

I have read all about the debate on the HTTP Referer. The site I am running is used by members from government organizations, so changing firewall settings is not an option. I find that sometimes I get the error and sometimes I don't. Regardless, if I just carry on and go to the area I want, there is no problem.

The problem is that my users (who understand less than I do about computers) get scared by the message and phone me.

I need to find the source of the "Why am I being re-directed here?" message so I can change some the content. Unfortunately being a rookie with all of this, I have been unable to find the source of the error message.

Is it in MYSQL? If so where?

In attempting to install CBB 3.06 on XOOPS 2.2.3 I am receiving the following error:

Fatal error: Call to a member function on a non-object in /home2/oalepkh8/public_html/xoops/modules/newbb/xoops_version.php on line 677.

I understand that the volume of errors that follow are not of concern to me. They look much like this:

Notice [PHP]: Only variables should be assigned by reference in file kernel/profile.php line 94.

I think I followed all of the instructions and have compared the files on my server to the extracted ones. Aside from some chinese characters, I appear to be complete.

With no programming knowledge, I seem to have hit a wall in the construction of my site.

Any advice will surely be appreciated.

I am building a site using XOOPS 2.2.3. This forum has been great help. In testing my site, I am finding that when a new user registers, the e-mail is not being sent to me as the administrator.

Is there an answer to this problem? Through this forum I have learned how to approve new members manually in the database, but that isn't how I want things to work as I go forward.

Any assistance will be much appreciated.
