Hi everyone,

Can someone point me in the right direction? I'm trying to find out where I can seperate out the topic and article title in the news module main page (..../modules/news/).

It seems like they're bundled together as "story.title" and I can't format them directly in the templates.

I'd like to put the words "Topic:" before the topic, then a line break and then "Article:" before the article name. or maybe eliminate the Topic all together...not sure yet

I just can't figure out yet where to edit.

Thanks!

Thanks for the quick response! I saw the topic name (I only have one topic) displayed in the box, but for some reason I didn't realize I had to actually select/click it.

Works now!

pmcnamara - sorry in advance if I go into too much detail below:

To modify the look of the RECENT NEWS block, go to the "misc tools" and then "templates" in admin.

If you haven't already, you'll need to clone the default templates in order to edit them (the templates that come with XOOPS cannot be edited directly...you have to clone them and edit the clones). ...just select "clone" from the links on the right of the template admin page, and name them what you wish.

In order to edit the templates, and to see your cloned templates in action, in the XOOPS admin, go to preferences>system>general settings - you'll need to select your cloned template set as the "default template set".

After that, you'll need to click the "generate" link next to "news" (in your cloned template admin section - misc tools>templates).

You'll then be able to edit the "news_block_top.html" block by clicking on "list" next to "news" and selecting "edit". This block is the "recent news" block.

Good luck!

Hello,

I'm using XOOPS 2.2 and news 1.31.

I can't get the RECENT NEWS block to display anywhere. The NEWS TOPICS block will display with no problem. Any ideas? Could this be a bug?

I spent the last half-hour checking my settings, but I could have missed something...

I've added two news items to test the block, but nothing is showing. Made sure it was "visible" in the center block, made sure permissions were correct, etc...

Thanks for your help!

Thanks!

It was located in the theme_blockcenter_c.html file, but was actually being pulled from the "default" folder instead of my custom theme's folder.

I replaced the center column code in my theme, but forgot to change the actual location it was taking the block files from.

I appreciate the quick response...thanks again!

Hello all,

...hopefully someone can point me in the right direction. For some reason, I can't find where to edit to get rid of the border around the center blocks in the theme I'm using. I suspect that the editing is not in the theme itself, but somewhere else...I've checked the CSS files, templates, and just about everything, but I'm obviously missing something.

Here's the link to see what I'm talking about:

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks!

I figured it out. I didn't choose to install the Extended Profiles module during installation.

Installed it, and now I can add users.

Cheers!

Hello all,

...installed 2.2 a few moments ago...all went flawlessly.

I can't for the life of me figure out how to add a new user from admin. Is this possible?

Thanks,

Jody

Hi!

I'm using the Article module, and I really like it except for the following:

When I post a new article, if viewed under the individual category, the newest articles show up at the END of the list. I need them to show up at the beginning.

With all of the blocks associated with this module, the newest post shows up at the top.

I know I can order the articles in admin using the weight, but if I have 100 articles, this could get increasingly time consuming.

Here's a link to the site. Click the "desktops" category, and the article named "test" is the newest post...it appears at the bottom:

http://www.cheapcomputernews.com

I continuing to attempt to find an solution, but in the meantime, if anyone has any input, it would be appreciated.

Thanks!

Jody

Hi!

Thanks in advance for your time!

I am looking for some advice / direction regarding upgrading my freshamounts.com site from 2.0 to 2.0.6. Is there anything I need to be concerned about?

If someone could point me in the right direction as to where/how to start the process, I would appreciate it.

Thanks!

newbb language file & template question

Hello,

I added the following line to the newbb language file, main.php:

define ("_MD_NEWCOMM","New Comments");

I was hoping that I could add <{$lang_newcomm}> to the newbb_viewforum.html template in order to get it to display, but I have had no success. Other changes that I've made to this file are displayed correctly, but it seems that ADDING a definition is the problem, when previously I had only modified a definition that was already included.

Does anyone know how I could add a new definition to the language file and get it to display in a template?

Thanks for your help!

Jody
